Matthijs van Driel (1985) was born in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands. He studied classical percussion at the Amsterdam conservatory and the ArtEZ conservatory Arnhem. Next to his percussion studies he took lessons in composition with Dolf de Kinkelder. Currently, he plays as a freelance percussionist in various ensembles and orchestras like the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra, The Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symfonia, North Netherlands Orchestra, etc. As a composer he writes for various ensembles, projects and soloists.
